In this edition of the Innovation Series, Lucy Mills talks with Professor Daniel Guinness, Managing Director at Beyond Equality, about masculinity, gender, and social change. Daniel brings a unique perspective, having transitioned from professional rugby to academia and then to leading a UK-based non-profit that works with boys and men to challenge outdated ideas of masculinity. In this conversation, we’ll explore the concept of masculinity, why the question "what it means to be a man" has become an increasingly urgent question, and what this means in the context of sport for development. We’ll also discuss how Daniel stays grounded and effective as a leader in a complex world, and what lessons can be drawn from his experience working at the intersection of sport, education, and social justice.
