May 21, 2025 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
The "Safeguarding in Sport for Development" series aims to address the critical importance of safeguarding within the Sport for Development (S4D) sector. This series seeks to ensure that all sport-based interventions are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and protective environment for all participants, especially children and vulnerable adults.
Led by Laureus Sport for Good, the Safeguarding Series started in 2024, with an introduction to Safeguarding in Sport for Development, a crash course for beginners to cover the basics: what is safeguarding and what is child protection, key concepts and definitions about harm and abuse, why having a safeguarding policy is crucial for any organisation working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
Since then, we have run three more sessions, given participants a more in-depth overview of the International Safeguards in Sport, how to strengthen protocols and procedures to adequately respond, record and report safeguarding cases, and how to strengthen safeguarding across all external communications and storytelling.
We would like to invite you to our last session of the series: **Safeguarding Self-Audit Tool by the International Safeguards in Sport**
In this interactive workshop, we will explain in detail how to use the Self Audit Tool, designed by the International Safeguards in Sport with the purpose to help organisations like yours assess where they are in their safeguarding journey, identify strengths and areas that need to be developed, and monitor progress at their own pace.
**This session will be delivered by Elena Marin-Yanez.** Elena is Head of External Services at Laureus Sport for Good. She has 20 years of experience leading programmes with the most vulnerable children and young People across Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. For the last 6 years, she has provided tailored technical support, capacity building and facilitated peer learning on safeguarding to Laureus’ partners and grantees.
