March 18, 2025 (2:00 PM - 3:00 PM)

**It’s today!** The "Safeguarding in Sport for Development" series aims to address the critical importance of safeguarding within the Sport for Development (S4D) sector. This series seeks to ensure that all sport-based interventions are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and protective environment for all participants, especially children and vulnerable adults. Led by Laureus Sport for Good, the Safeguarding Series started in 2024, with an introduction to Safeguarding in Sport for Development: a crash course for beginners to cover the basics: what is safeguarding and what is child protection, key concepts and definitions about harm and abuse, why having a safeguarding policy is crucial for any organisation working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults. This introductory session was followed by a workshop that gave participants a more in-depth overview of the International Safeguards in Sport and introduced the Self-Audit Tool, with tips on how to use it. In this session, we will go deeper on the key concepts and components of a strong safeguarding policy. The session will be introduced by Laureus Sport for Good and facilitated by Tackle ([Tackle \| Sexual Health through Football](https://tackleafrica.org/)). Tackle uses the power and popularity of football to deliver HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services to young people on football pitches across Africa. They do this by training African football coaches, games teachers and community leaders to use fun, interactive football sessions with inbuilt health messaging with their players. Tackle is committed to the safeguarding of all the young people, adults and staff they work with and are a core working group member of the International Safeguards in Sport (Safer Sport). They have vast experience strengthening the capacity of grassroots organisations on safeguarding children and young people across Africa and beyond.
