Mental health is a growing global concern, and Sport has emerged as a powerful tool for promoting resilience, emotional wellbeing, and social connection.
This 90-minute interactive workshop will explore the science, strategies, and real-world applications of using sport as a vehicle for mental health promotion. Designed for coaches, practitioners, and professionals working at the intersection of sport, youth development, and mental health, the session will provide participants with:
- A foundational understanding of mental health and its impact on individuals and communities.
- Insights into the psychological and physiological benefits of physical activity, supported by research and MEAL data.
- Practical guidance on designing and implementing sport-based mental health programs that are inclusive, safe, and culturally relevant.
- Case studies and success stories demonstrating effective sport-for-mental-health interventions.
- Opportunities for collaborative learning, discussion, and networking with experts and peers.
Through interactive discussions, polling activities, and Q&A sessions, participants will leave with actionable strategies to integrate mental health awareness into their sports initiatives, fostering stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.
**About Hani Al Rawashdeh:**
Hani Al Rawashdeh is a Policy and Advocacy Specialist at Generations For Peace (GFP), a global non-profit organization dedicated to peacebuilding through sport, arts, advocacy, dialogue, and media. With a background in psychology and extensive experience in policy research, mental health, and youth development, Hani works at the intersection of sport, social protection, and mental health, leading initiatives that drive policy change and programmatic impact. Before joining GFP, he held key roles in peacebuilding, humanitarian response, and counterterrorism, working with civil society organizations, government entities, and international agencies. His expertise spans sport for development, mental health in conflict settings, and capacity building for youth and marginalized communities. Hani is passionate about leveraging sport as a tool for psychosocial support, resilience- building, and community empowerment. He holds a BA in Psychology and is fluent in Arabic and English.
