_**Please note the workshop will be delivered in three parts between the hours of 13:00-16:00 UTC+1 on the 30th and 31st of July 2024.**_ ### **Course Description** _The Sport for Social Cohesion module is particularly designed for S4D practitioners, who already have S4D experience._ The course focuses on the pivotal role that sports play in promoting social cohesion within communities. Participants will explore the importance of social cohesion, particularly in the context of sustainable development goals. The module will equip learners with an understanding of how sports can be harnessed to foster social cohesion, both on and off the field. Participants will gain valuable insights into designing and implementing activities that promote inclusivity, cooperation, and unity within diverse social groups. The course is crafted with an interactive approach, featuring practical exercises and breakout sessions. Active participation in group discussions and exercises is a requirement for a fulfilling learning experience. ### **Learning Goals** - Understand the significance of social cohesion in building resilient and sustainable communities. - Explore the ways in which sports can be utilized as a powerful tool to enhance social cohesion and inclusivity. - Identify key competencies and activities that contribute to fostering social cohesion within diverse groups through sports. - Analyze successful S4D programs from different countries and contexts, understanding the strategies they employed to promote social cohesion. - Develop skills to design and create activities that nurture social cohesion and inclusivity within sports programs. - Gain knowledge of techniques and approaches to extend the benefits of social cohesion beyond the sporting field and into the wider community.
